Terms of service

1. The agreement

These terms are a contract between you and Caesoose Studios Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16582592) whose registered office is at Office 9437kj, 182-184 High Street North, East Ham, London E6 2JA, England (“Tickbase”, “we”, “us”). By using the Tickbase apps, the website at tickbase.app or the web app at app.tickbase.app (together, the “Service”), you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data and forms part of these terms.

2. Your account

• You don't need an account to use the free app; sign in when you want sync.
• Tickbase Premium requires an account, created by signing in with Google or Apple. You must be at least 16 (or the age of digital consent where you live) to create one.
• You're responsible for keeping your Google or Apple sign-in secure and for anything done through your account.
• One account is for one person. Shared lists, when they arrive, will have their own rules.

3. Your content

Everything you put into Tickbase — tasks, lists, tags, notes, attachments — is yours. We claim no ownership or licence over it beyond what's needed to store it, sync it to your devices and back it up, which you permit us to do by signing in. We don't use your content to train AI models, build profiles or advertise. You can export it all as JSON at any time and delete it by deleting your account.

You're responsible for what you store. Don't store content you don't have the right to store.

4. Acceptable use

Please don't:

• use the Service for anything illegal, or to store content that is illegal where you or we are;
• try to break into, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer or disrupt the Service or other people's accounts;
• share one Premium subscription between multiple people, or resell access;
• use automated tools against our servers beyond normal use of the app (an exported JSON file is the supported way to get your data out in bulk).

If you do, we may suspend or close your account. We'll tell you why unless the law prevents it.

5. Billing, trials and refunds

• Free. The app is free on every device, with no time limit, and signed-in accounts sync for free. The free version has the usage limits listed on the pricing page.
• Tickbase Premium costs $12 per year (or the equivalent in your local currency), excluding VAT and sales tax, billed yearly in advance. Until 31 March 2027 it can instead be bought once, as Lifetime, for $50 (or the equivalent in your local currency), excluding VAT and sales tax. There is one plan: Lifetime is the same Premium, paid differently.
• Lifetime. Lifetime is Premium for as long as Tickbase exists: everything Premium includes now and everything added to it later, with nothing to renew and no further payment. It belongs to the account it was bought for and cannot be transferred. It lasts for as long as we run the Service; if the Service ever closes, Lifetime ends with it, on the notice described in section 6, and is not refunded at that point. It can be refunded within 14 days of purchase like any payment (see Refunds below). Buying Lifetime does not stop a yearly subscription bought through Apple or Google — only you can cancel that, in your store's subscription settings; a yearly subscription bought from us stops renewing automatically. Buying Lifetime on or before 31 March 2027 makes you a Founder.
• Gifts. You can buy Premium for someone else on our website or in the desktop app: a year of Premium for $12, or — until 31 March 2027 — Lifetime for $50. Each gift is a code that one account can redeem, once, on the web; it does not expire. A gifted year starts when any Premium the recipient already has ends, so it never overlaps time already paid for; if they subscribe through Apple or Google with auto-renew on, they turn that off first. Redeeming a gift counts as a first payment for Premium, including for the Founder programme. A gift can be refunded within 14 days of purchase if it has not been redeemed; once redeemed it belongs to the recipient and is not refunded. If you bought several at once, the ones nobody has redeemed can be refunded and the rest cannot. If the payment for a gift is reversed by the payer's bank or card issuer (a chargeback), every gift bought with that payment is cancelled, including any that have already been redeemed; we tell anyone whose redeemed gift is cancelled, and they can write to hello@tickbase.app so we can work out a solution with them. Lifetime received as a gift is Lifetime as described above.
• Trial. New accounts get a 14-day free trial of Premium, or 28 days when the account names the friend who referred it. No payment details are taken for the trial. If you don't subscribe by the end of it, Premium simply stops and the app returns to Free. Nothing is deleted, with one exception: files you attached to tasks during Premium are kept for 90 days after it ends and then removed, as the next point explains.
• Attachments. Premium lets you attach files to tasks: up to 10 per task, 20 MB each, with 10 GB of storage per account (1 GB during the trial). Files on a shared list's tasks count against the storage of the person who owns the list, whoever added them, and stay with the list if that person leaves or deletes their account. When Premium ends, your attachments stay readable and downloadable for 90 days, we e-mail you 30 days and 7 days before the end, and then we remove them — we would rather not hold data you are no longer using, even encrypted. Subscribing again at any point in those 90 days keeps them. Countdown photos are not affected.
• Payment and seller. On the web, Premium is sold by our merchant of record, Paddle.com Market Ltd (or Paddle.com Inc. for customers in the United States), which handles payment, invoicing, VAT and sales tax, and refunds; your purchase is also subject to Paddle's buyer terms. In the mobile apps, subscriptions and Lifetime are sold by Apple or Google under their store terms.
• Buying on our website. You can buy Premium or Lifetime on tickbase.app without signing in first. It goes on the Tickbase account that uses the e-mail address you pay with. If no account uses it, we e-mail that address a link, and the purchase goes on whichever account opens the link and signs in; it also goes on an account made later with that address. Until then it is held for you, and it can be refunded like any other purchase (see Refunds below).
• Tax. Prices are in your local currency and exclude VAT and sales tax. Paddle adds any tax that applies at checkout, shows the total before you pay and itemises the tax on the invoice.
• Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically each year until cancelled. We'll email account holders before renewal.
• Cancellation. Cancel any time: on the web or in the desktop app from Settings → Account → Manage subscription, or through your app store's subscription settings if you subscribed on a phone. Premium continues until the end of the paid period.
• Refunds. Within 14 days of any charge, we'll refund it in full, no questions asked: email hello@tickbase.app. The full refund policy sets out how to ask and how long it takes. Purchases made through Apple or Google are refunded through their processes; we'll help you find the right place. Nothing in this section limits refund rights you have under local consumer law.
• Price changes. We may change the price of Premium, for example if the cost of running the service changes. Lifetime, once bought, has no further payment for a price change to apply to. A changed price applies to you only from your next renewal, and we will email account holders at least 30 days before it takes effect, so you can cancel first if you prefer and keep Premium until the end of the paid period.
• Founders. Anyone who pays for Tickbase on or before 31 March 2027 is a Founder: for Premium, for Lifetime, or for a gift for someone else, on the web, in the desktop app or through an app store. So is anyone who redeems a gift of Tickbase on or before that date, whether it was bought for them or given by us. The Founder badge and icon are yours for good. Founders who subscribe also keep their price for longer: if your first paid year of Premium started on or before 31 March 2027 and your subscription has continued without a break since, a price increase does not apply to the paid period you are in when it takes effect, nor to your next renewal after that; it applies from the renewal after that, on the notice described above.

6. Changes to the service

We'll keep improving Tickbase, which means features may be added or changed. We won't remove the ability to export your data.

If we ever had to close the Service, we would tell you as early as we possibly could: at least three months ahead wherever we are able to, and less only if we could no longer pay to keep it running. Until the last day, export keeps working, so you can download everything you have from any one of your devices, and Settings → Storage downloads every attachment you have added in one go. Any unused part of a yearly subscription would be refunded. Lifetime ends when the Service does, as section 5 explains.

7. Ending the agreement

You can end it any time by deleting your account in Settings, which removes your data from our servers — every task and every file attached to one — as described in the privacy policy. We can end it if you break these terms, or with 30 days' notice for any other reason (with a pro-rated refund of any unused subscription). We will not end a Lifetime account for any other reason than a breach of these terms, or the Service closing as described in section 6. Sections 3, 8, 9, 10 and 11 survive termination.

8. No warranty

We work hard to make Tickbase reliable, but we're a small independent operation and can't promise perfection. The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement, to the extent the law allows. We don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free or that your data will never be lost — which is why export is always available and why we recommend keeping your own backups of anything important.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tickbase will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you for all claims in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us in that period, or $12 if you paid nothing.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes will be handled by the courts of England and Wales. If you're a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts.

11. Other things

• If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies.
• These terms, plus the privacy policy, are the whole agreement between us about the Service.
• We may update these terms. For material changes we'll email account holders and show a notice in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new terms; if you don't, you can cancel and we'll refund any unused subscription.
• “Tickbase” and the Tickbase logo are our trademarks. TickTick, Todoist, Apple, Google, Paddle and Cloudflare are trademarks of their respective owners and are mentioned only for identification.
